Exploring unseen layers of the Columbia River

SYLVIANNE JOHNSON | ARCHER MAYO | ANNA KAI

A sculptor, a painter and fiber artist collaborate to create an immersive experience expressing their relationship with the shadow side of the Columbia River.

Sylvianne | fiber artist

Sylvianne Johnson, BFA and MAT is a fiber artist who felts, experiments with natural dyes, and creates with a variety of natural and man made elements foraged from her surrounding landscape. Her work represents the impressions the landscape imparts on her in the immediate and over time.

Archer | sculptor

Archer Mayo, MFA is a sculptor and designer living in White Salmon since 2000.  For the past decade he has been one of the few divers who has explored the depths of the mid and lower Columbia River.  While his work has always explored the interface of humanity and the depths of water, his recent works have focused on the Columbia and its many complexities,  moods and environments.

Anna Kai | painter

Anna Kai, BFA is a painter who draws inspiration from the cycles of our natural world. Her paintings give thanks and admiration to the humble miracles nature consistently displays — freeze to thaw, source to sea, salmon migrations, lichen patterns, intricate water ripples. She hopes her paintings spark an appreciation for these moments and remind us to connect more closely with the natural world we inhabit.
